Description:

Atherosperminine is a hydroxylated derivative of forskolin. It can be converted to forskolin by the enzyme cytochrome P450. It has been shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells and inhibit tumor growth in animal models. Atherosperminine has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. In addition, atherosperminine has been shown to suppress locomotor activity and carcinogenesis in mice. The mechanism of action is not yet well understood, but it may involve the regulation of dopamine receptors or inhibition of protein kinase C.
