Description:

DMP is a ligand that binds to metal ions such as zinc, copper, and nickel. It is a tetradentate ligand with two acid hydrazide groups. The chemical formula for DMP is C8H12N2O3. DMP has been shown to form complexes with copper and zinc ions. These complexes are soluble in organic solvents such as acetone but insoluble in water. The spectrum of the complex formed with copper ion shows an intense absorption band at 632 nm and a weak absorption band at 617 nm. The spectrum of the complex formed with zinc ion shows an intense absorption band at 589 nm and a weak absorption band at 563 nm.
