2,4,5-Trimethyl-3-pyridinol is a reactive compound that belongs to the group of hydroxylated pyridines. It is used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as bowel disease and inflammatory bowel disease. It has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in mice with induced tumors and to have anti-inflammatory properties. 2,4,5-Trimethyl-3-pyridinol also inhibits 5-ht7 receptor activity and TNF alpha induced cell death in cancer cells. It has also been shown to increase cell proliferation and differentiation of stem cells.
