1-Monoheptadecanoin is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that belongs to the class of glycol esters. It has been shown to exhibit receptor activity in cancer tissues and has been used as a dietary supplement for the treatment of cancer in pediatric patients. 1-Monoheptadecanoin is found in natural sources such as fish oil, egg yolk, and soybean oil. It can be synthesized via the reaction of a monounsaturated fatty acid with glycerol. 1-Monoheptadecanoin has also been found to inhibit tumor growth by altering the cell cycle or apoptotic pathways in preclinical models of breast cancer and melanoma.
