Product Information
2-Formylphenyl acetate is a phenolic acid that has been shown to be an agonist of the 5-HT4 receptor. It is structurally related to acetylsalicylic acid and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. This compound binds to the 5-HT4 receptor, which is found in the smooth muscle cells of blood vessels and regulates vascular tone. 2-Formylphenyl acetate also inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as nitric oxide (NO) and TNFα by activating the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ). This compound can decrease glomerular filtration rate, which may be due to its interference with renal function.
