Description

[2-Hydroxy-3-(2-methoxyphenoxy)propyl](propan-2-yl)amine is a chemical compound with the formula CHNO. It is an analog of phenoxybenzamine and has been used to treat cardiac and bowel diseases. The drug is a prodrug, which is hydrolyzed by esterases to form 2-hydroxy-3-(2-methoxyphenoxy)propyl benzoic acid, which exhibits activity as an alpha blocker. This chemical compound has also been shown to be effective in treating hypertension. [2-Hydroxy-3-(2-methoxyphenoxy)propyl](propan-2-yl)amine binds to the alpha receptors in the body, especially in the heart tissue, thereby inhibiting blood pressure and other haemodynamic effects.
