1,3-Dibutyl-pyrimidine-2,4,6-trione is a potent antifungal agent that belongs to the group of antimicrobial peptides. It has been shown to decrease fluidity of the cell membrane and hyperpolarize the membrane potential of erythrocytes. 1,3-Dibutyl-pyrimidine-2,4,6-trione can be used as an alternate treatment for cardiovascular disorders or for proteolytic disorders. It has also been shown to have antiinflammatory effects by inhibiting the release of proinflammatory factors and by causing membrane permeabilization. This antimicrobial peptide is not active against bacteria or viruses.
