Product Information

Name:
Cyclopentane-1,1-dicarboxylic acid
Synonyms:
  • 1,1-Cyclopentanedicarboxylic acid
Description:

Cyclopentane-1,1-dicarboxylic acid is a reactive compound with a hydroxyl group and hydrogen bond. It has been shown to have high water permeability, which may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds in the membrane. Cyclopentane-1,1-dicarboxylic acid is oxidized by UV radiation and reacts with fatty acids and polymeric matrices. It has been used as a substrate for study of the interactions between lipid bilayers and other molecules. Cyclopentane-1,1-dicarboxylic acid has also been investigated as an agent that can selectively destroy cells that have high resistance to radiation therapy in order to eliminate cancer cells.
