Glyceryl monomethacrylate is a reactive monomer that can be used to synthesize polymers. The monomer can be polymerized with glycerol, glyceryl, and copolymerized with other monomers such as acrylamide, methacrylic acid, and styrene. Glyceryl monomethacrylate is hydrophilic and has been shown to be biocompatible. It also has the ability to absorb water vapor, which makes it useful in wastewater treatment. This product also has covalent linkages that are resistant to degradation by copper chloride.
