4-((4-((4-Aminophenyl)sulfonyl)phenyl)amino)-4-oxobutanoic acid (ABBA) is a hydroxylated analog of the immunosuppressive agent δ opioid. ABBA has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of choroidal neovascularization, and has been used as a diagnostic agent for this condition. It is also an effective cross-linking agent in cell culture experiments. A major side effect of ABBA is an increase in δ opioid receptors, which may lead to addiction.
