2,8-Diiododibenzofuran is a phosphorescent compound that can be used as an organic semiconductor material. It has been shown to have high quantum efficiency in the visible range and a relatively low transition temperature. This compound has been used to modify diarylamines to produce dibenzofurans with increased thermal stability. 2,8-Diiododibenzofuran has also been used in devices for emitting light after being excited by electron transfer from a metal electrode. The emission of 2,8-diiododibenzofuran is stimulated by light at high temperatures and is stable up to 300°C.
