Product Information
Cyclohexanepentanoic acid is a cyclohexane carboxylic acid that has a hydrogen bond. It is structurally similar to naphthenic acids, which are produced by the microbial metabolism of crude oil. Cyclohexanepentanoic acid inhibits the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms by inhibiting their ability to synthesize cell membrane lipids, molecules, and proteins. This compound has been shown to be toxic for bacteria, algae, fungi, and yeast when activated with UV radiation or oxidized with peroxide. Cyclohexanepentanoic acid also exhibits genotoxic potential in mammalian cells.
