5H-Benzo[4,5]thieno[3,2-c]carbazole is a multilayer organic semiconductor that can be used as an efficient and stable light emitter. It has a phosphorescent transition that can be tuned by changing the substituents on the benzene ring. 5H-Benzo[4,5]thieno[3,2-c]carbazole emits light in the visible spectrum with efficiencies which are greater than or equal to those of carbazole or quantum dots. This compound's emission is also temperature independent and does not change when exposed to UV radiation.
