3-Bromo-2-methylpropene (3BMP) is a reactive chemical that is used in the synthesis of stereoselective compounds. It is obtained by the reaction of an aldehyde group with a halide, and has been shown to have degenerative effects on the skeleton. 3BMP reacts with water vapor to form huperzine A, which is an amp-activated protein that has been shown to protect against Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia. 3BMP also reacts with acyl halides or hydrochloric acid to form fatty acids or hydroxyl groups, respectively.
