1-tert-Butyl-1H-tetrazole-5-thiol is a synthetic compound that acts as a catalyst in organic synthesis. It is used for the synthesis of substituted anilines, heterocycles and other compounds. 1-tert-Butyl-1H-tetrazole-5-thiol has been shown to be effective in the glycosidation of sugar derivatives, with high yields and selectivity. This agent can be used for the synthesis of alkyl, aryl and vinyl ethers as well as esters and amides. 1-tert-Butyl-1H-tetrazole-5thiol has also been studied for its ability to catalyze asymmetric hydrogenation reactions. The molecule has been synthesized by the reaction of sodium azide with tetrazole followed by reduction with NaBH4.
