Description:
1,2-Benzisoxazol-3-ol is an oxidation product of benzisoxazole that has been shown to have antifungal activity. It binds to amines in the cell membrane and blocks the transport of potassium ions from outside the cell into the cell. This inhibits cellular function and leads to death. 1,2-Benzisoxazol-3-ol has been studied for its potential use as a treatment for Alzheimer's disease and clinical trials are currently underway.
