Description

Benzoic anhydride is a carboxylic acid that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of benzocaine, a local anesthetic. The preparation process for benzoic anhydride involves the reaction of benzoic acid with phosgene. This reaction produces high yields and significant reductions in reactant consumption.
