N-Boc-3-pyrrolidinone is a synthetic chemical with antibacterial activity. It has been shown to have sequences that are expressed in recombinant cells and also inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to their dehydrogenase enzyme. N-Boc-3-pyrrolidinone also inhibits cancer cells by inhibiting the production of chloride, which is required for the synthesis of DNA and RNA. The optimal reaction conditions for this compound are a pH of 2.0 and a temperature of 40°C.
