Description

1-Tert-Butyl-6-Fluoro-7-(3-methylpiperazin-1-yl)-4-oxoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that is active against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It inhibits the bacterial GyrA and GyrB, which are bacterial enzymes that maintain the integrity of DNA by binding to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, respectively. 1TFQCA has shown bactericidal activity against M. tuberculosis in clinical studies and has been shown to inhibit inflammatory cells as well as other bacteria such as M. avium complex.
