3-[(4-Bromo-2,6-difluorobenzyl)oxy]-5-[3-[4-(pyrrolidin-1-yl)butyl]ureido]isothiazole-4-carboxamide (BAY 12-9566) is a molecule that binds to the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). It has been studied for its potential in the treatment of cancer and other diseases. The compound selectively binds to the receptor without activating it and blocks ligand binding. This prevents activation of downstream signaling pathways and inhibits cell proliferation. BAY 12-9566 is active against a broad range of tumor types, including those that are resistant to other EGFR inhibitors. It has shown efficacy in mice with xenografts of human breast cancer cells, as well as in transgenic animals bearing human breast cancer tumors.
