3-Bromo-1,1,1-trifluoropropan-2-one is a molecule that was synthesized in order to study the regulatory properties of hydrogen bonds. It inhibits the activity of VEGF receptor by competitively binding to its extracellular domain. 3-Bromo-1,1,1-trifluoropropan-2-one also has an inhibitory effect on the proliferation of actin filaments and can be used as a diagnostic reagent for anti-VEGF receptor antibodies. 3-Bromo-1,1,1-trifluoropropan-2-one has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro with a monoclonal antibody that recognizes the extracellular domain of the VEGF receptor. This inhibition is due to its ability to bind with high affinity to this site and block access by VEGF ligands.
