- Benzenamine, 2-Bromo-4,5-Difluoro-
2-Bromo-4,5-difluoroaniline is a surfactant that is used in cross-coupling reactions. It has been shown to be mutagenic and to cause cataracts in animals. 2-Bromo-4,5-difluoroaniline has been found to be a strong inhibitor of the growth of typhimurium bacteria at concentrations of 0.1% or greater. The inhibitory effect is reversible and concentration dependent, with an IC50 of 0.2%. 2-Bromo-4,5-difluoroaniline is also able to inhibit the growth of chloroformate resistant mutants of Salmonella typhimurium TA100 (IC50 = 0.15%). This compound also has chiral properties, as it can be synthesized enantioselectively by reacting butanol with chloroformate in the presence of sodium ethoxide.
