Product Information

Name:
Tert-butyl N-(2-fluorophenyl)carbamate
Synonyms:
  • Carbamicacid, (2-fluorophenyl)-, 1,1-dimethylethyl ester (9CI)
  • tert-Butyl(2-fluorophenyl)carbamate
  • tert-Butyl N-(2-fluorophenyl)carbamate
Description:

Tert-butyl N-(2-fluorophenyl)carbamate is a radical cyclization agent that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of indoles. It reacts with diethyl ketomalonate to form a radical, which then reacts with anilines to produce the desired product. Tert-butyl N-(2-fluorophenyl)carbamate undergoes reductive cyclization by reacting with tributyltin hydride to produce tert-butyl N-(2-hydroxyphenyl)carbamate. This reaction also requires sodium methoxide and ethylene glycol to generate the radical.
