Product Information
3-bromo-4-(trifluoromethyl)aniline is an intermediate in the synthesis of various pharmaceuticals. It can be prepared by regioselective synthesis from methoxybenzene and trifluoroacetic acid. The yield for this reaction is about 50%. This compound reacts preferentially at the bifunctional carbon, which has a functional group with a high electron density. 3-bromo-4-(trifluoromethyl)aniline can be made by reacting butyllithium with 3-bromobenzaldehyde and then adding fluorine gas to the resulting intermediate. The reactivity of this compound depends on the position of fluorine. If it is on a terminal carbon, it will react more easily than if it is on an internal carbon.
