Description:

(3s,4r)-1-tert-butyl-4-(2,4-difluorophenyl)pyrrolidine-3-carboxylic acid is a concomitantly activating nitrile chlorohydrin that can be used in the catalytic synthesis of acrylonitrile. The kinetics and thermodynamics of this reaction are well understood. This compound has been shown to be chiral and active at room temperature. It is also catalytic and does not require an additional nucleophile for activation. The optimum conditions for this reaction are an asymmetric synthesis with hexamethyldisilazide as the base and anion as the solvent.
