9-BBN is a reagent that can be used to prepare lactams. It is an organic compound with the formula CH(CH)NH. It is a colorless liquid that reacts readily with amines to produce amides and with alcohols to produce esters. 9-BBN has been used in the kinetic resolution of racemic α-amino acids, and it has also been used as a catalyst for the production of methoxy groups, which are reactive and hydroxy groups.
