1,3-Bis-(Z-Leu-Leu)-diaminoacetone Z-Leu-Leu is a peptidase inhibitor that inhibits peptidases such as cathepsin B and H. This compound has been shown to inhibit the activity of endogenous and exogenous proteases in tissues from mice. 1,3-Bis-(Z-Leu-Leu)-diaminoacetone Z-Leu-Leu also inhibits the replication of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV) in tissue culture cells. It has been shown to have antiplatelet properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit thromboxane A2 production by aspirin. The same study also showed that 1,3-Bis-(Z-Leu-Leu)-diaminoacetone Z-Leu-Leu inhibited hepatitis C virus production in cells from human liver tissue.
