It has potent antiviral activity against HIV-1, as well as potent anti-inflammatory effects. 2-(4-tert-Butylphenoxy)propanoic acid inhibits the expression of inflammatory genes by inhibiting the activation of lymphocytes and macrophages. This compound also has strong antiviral activity against HIV-1, with an IC50 value of 3.5 micrograms per milliliter. The colorimetric assay can be used to identify this compound in the presence of other lipids or to compare its potency against other compounds.br>
