Product Information

Name:
(3-Bromophenoxy)acetic acid
Synonyms:
  • Acetic Acid, 2-(3-Bromophenoxy)-
  • (3-Bromophenoxy)Acetate
Description:

3-Bromophenoxyacetic acid (3BPAA) is a herbicide that inhibits the growth of plants by inhibiting the activity of phenoxy acetic acid dioxygenases. 3BPAA has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on leukemia HL-60 cells and other human cells. 3BPAA can be used as a screening agent for plant growth inhibitors, as it inhibits the chlorophyll synthesis in plants. 3BPAA also acts as a fluoride chelator, which may account for some of its anti-cancer effects.
