Product Information
- Benzonitrile, 3-bromo-2-fluoro-
3-Bromo-2-fluorobenzonitrile (BFBN) is an acylation agent that is used in organic synthesis. BFBN has a molecular structure consisting of two benzene rings, one bromine atom, and two fluorine atoms. The BFBN molecule also contains a linker group that can be used for attaching other molecules to the molecule. The chromophore of BFBN is the nitrile group, which absorbs light at wavelengths between 400 and 700 nm. This chemical has a quantum efficiency of about 40%. 3-Bromo-2-fluorobenzonitrile hydrolyzes thermally in the presence of water or alkali to form dibenzofuran and potassium hydroxide. This chemical has good transport properties and it is activated by light, which causes it to fluoresce with a greenish color.
