Product Information
- (1,1'-Biphenyl)-3,3'-diamine
- 3,3'-Biphenyldiamine
- M-Benzidine
1,1'-Biphenyl-3,3'-diamine dihydrochloride is a homologous analog of biphenyl-4,4'-diamine. It is used in coatings for thermal expansion purposes. The high molecular weight of this substance leads to an expansion of about 10% at temperatures between 0 and 30 degrees Celsius. 1,1'-Biphenyl-3,3'-diamine dihydrochloride has a constant coefficient of thermal expansion that ranges from 9.7 x 10/°C to 11.2 x 10/°C at 20 degrees Celsius. This product also absorbs water and expands when exposed to humidity and chloride ions. 1,1'-Biphenyl-3,3'-diamine dihydrochloride can be polymerized with other chemicals such as acids or monomers and copolymerized with other materials such as acrylates or styrene monomers.
