Description:

1-(1H-Benzimidazol-2-yl)ethanol is a benzimidazole derivative that has been shown to have significant antioxidant potential and be useful for wastewater treatment. This compound can react with organic ligands, such as phenol and catechol, to form 1-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)ethanol derivatives. The isolated yield of the reaction is dependent on reaction time and optimal reaction conditions. It is a tetranuclear compound that exists in two polymorphs: mononuclear (a crystalline solid) and ethyl group (a glassy solid). The crystal system of this compound is trigonal planar.
