2-Boronobenzoic acid is a monomer that is used in the synthesis of polymers. 2-Boronobenzoic acid can also function as a growth factor, and it has been shown to induce inflammatory skin diseases in humans. This compound is an anticoagulant and has a high optical absorption coefficient at 290 nm. 2-Boronobenzoic acid can be synthesized by reacting pyridine compounds with carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas under an acidic catalyst.
