Description

2-Benzylisoindolin-5-amine is a nitrogen-containing heterocycle that has shown anti-influenza activity in animal models. It inhibits the replication of human influenza virus by targeting the viral RNA polymerase, thereby preventing transcription and replication. 2-Benzylisoindolin-5-amine also has anti-influenza activity in mice. This drug was found to be effective against influenza viruses from both humans and animals, with no signs of toxicity at doses up to 1000 mg/kg. The molecular structure of this compound is similar to piperidine, which is an inhibitor of influenza virus A/PR8/34 hemagglutinin (HA) neuraminidase and neuraminidase. 2-Benzylisoindolin-5-amine has been shown to block the release of newly formed virions from infected cells more effectively than oseltamivir, which is the active form of oseltamivir phosphate
