Description

2-Bromo-N-(1-phenylethyl)acetamide is a coordination compound that has square geometry and hydrophobic properties. It is an isomer of 2-bromoacetamide and can be used to bind metals such as copper, iron, or nickel. The compound also chelates metals, which allows for the separation of metal ions from a mixture by liquid chromatography. In addition, it is magnetic and can be used in magnetic separation techniques. The compound reacts with proton donors such as acetonitrile to form protonated ligands.
