5-Bromothiophene-2-carbonyl chloride is a hydrogen bond acceptor with a molecular weight of 118.10 g/mol, and it is soluble in water, methanol and DMSO. The compound has been shown to be able to induce death in cells by introducing fluorescence. 5-Bromothiophene-2-carbonyl chloride also has functionalities that make it an ideal fluorescent probe for use in diagnosis and photopolymerizable or photostable fluorescent probes for use in diagnostics.
