N-(3-Bromophenyl)acetamide is an organic compound that contains bromine. It is a primary amine and reacts with aliphatic alcohols in the presence of an acid catalyst to form esters. The reaction can be used to produce pharmaceuticals, dyes, and other chemicals. N-(3-Bromophenyl)acetamide undergoes reductive coupling with aromatic amines in the presence of a reducing agent such as sodium borohydride or lithium aluminium hydride to form substituted quinolines. This chemical also has a number of other uses including as a ligand in X-ray crystallography, as an energy source in some reactions, and as a reagent for chemical reactions involving chloride ions.
