The 2,2'-bi(tricyclo[3.3.1.1~3,7~]decane) molecule is composed of six axial methyl groups (-CH 3 ) and four equatorial methyl groups (-CH 3 ). The axial methyl group on the left in the first ring has an average bond length of 1.446Å while the other five axial methyl groups have an average bond length of 1.416Å
Theory suggests that this molecule can be formed from camphene (a bicyclic monoterpene hydrocarbon)
