Benzothiazole-6-carboxylic acid (BZCA) is a benzothiazole compound that is resistant to protein degradation, and is therefore stable in wastewater treatment. It has been shown to be effective against infectious diseases such as viral infections and bowel disease. BZCA has also been shown to inhibit the growth of lymphoproliferative cells, which are involved in the progression of cancer. BZCA has also been shown to inhibit the transcription process by binding to the DNA polymerase enzyme, preventing it from transcribing DNA and halting RNA synthesis. This drug can be used as a molecular probe for studying the molecular pathogenesis of erythropoietic protoporphyria in humans and other animals.
