Description

2-Bromo-N-methylbenzamide is a carbon monoxide-releasing molecule that is a carbonylation substrate. It has been shown to be more effective than 2-bromobenzamide in the production of benzaldehydes and phenylacetaldehyde when treated with carbon disulfide and hydrogen peroxide. 2-Bromo-N-methylbenzamide was found to be a good quinazolinone precursor, with high yields and excellent mechanistic understanding. It is also useful for the synthesis of phthalimides, which are important reagents in organic chemistry.
