2,1,3-Benzothiadiazole-5-carboxylic acid is an analog of daunorubicin. It is a fluorimetric probe that can be used to analyze the presence of tissue or tumor cells in vivo. The compound has been shown to reduce the production of reactive oxygen species and inhibit DNA synthesis in neuroblastoma cells and lymphocytic leukemia cells. This analog has shown no significant toxicity in mice after intravenous injection.
