6-Bromoquinazolin-4(3H)-one is a benzophenone derivative that has been used in the synthesis of organic compounds. This compound can be synthesized by reacting anisaldehyde with bromine, followed by cyclization with formamide and phenyl isothiocyanate. The reaction proceeds with the formation of dichlorides and yields 6-bromoquinazolin-4(3H)-one. The synthesis of this compound is then completed by reacting the bromide group with an electrophile such as butyllithium or lithium diisopropylamide (LDA).
