Description:

2-Bromo-9H-xanthen-9-one is a molecule that has an activated form and a nonactivated form. The activated form of 2-bromo-9H-xanthen-9-one is used in the synthesis of fluorescence probes and as an antibacterial agent. The nonactivated form of 2-bromo-9H-xanthen-9 has been used to synthesize cyclopenta[c]phenanthrene, which is a heterocyclic compound with regiospecificity for the 9 position. In addition, 2-bromo-9Hxanthen 9 one is also used to study steric interactions between alkene molecules. The thermodynamic properties of this molecule have been studied using molecular orbital theory.
