1-Benzyl-2-phenyl-1H-benzimidazole is a benzimidazole derivative that is used as a solid catalyst in organic synthesis. It has been shown to induce apoptosis in chondrosarcoma cells and to inhibit the growth of leukemia cells. This molecule has optical properties that are sensitive to the electric field and can be used as a ferroelectric material. 1-Benzyl-2-phenyl-1H-benzimidazole also forms hydrogen bonds with inorganic acids such as phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, and nitric acid.
