Description:

Bis(4-chlorophenoxy)acetic acid (BCPA) is a potent antagonist of the pro-inflammatory cytokine, IL-1β. BCPA has been shown to have a potent anti-inflammatory effect in animal models with induced inflammation. It also lowers blood pressure and has been shown to be an effective treatment for metabolic disorders such as diabetes mellitus. The molecular weight of BCPA is around 500 daltons and it is soluble in water. BCPA can be used as an anticoagulant, but it is not as potent as heparin or warfarin. It can also be used for the treatment of pain associated with degenerative joint diseases or surgery. BCPA does not produce cardioplegia when administered intravenously and does not produce significant toxic effects on the epidermis when applied topically.
