Product Information

Name:
5-Bromo-2-methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride
Synonyms:
  • benzenesulfonyl chloride
  • 5-bromo-2-methoxy-
  • Benzenesulfonyl Chloride, 5-Bromo-2-Methoxy-
Description:

5-Bromo-2-methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride (BMBS) is a synthetic molecule with arylation activity. It can be used for the synthesis of biologically active molecules, such as cancer drugs. BMBS is synthesized by combining 2-bromobenzeneacetic acid and methanesulfonic acid chloride in the presence of triethylamine in an organic solvent. The product is then purified by recrystallization from methanol. 5-Bromo-2-methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride has been shown to be potently cytotoxic to human cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. In addition, this compound also has pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to those of other bromodomain inhibitors, which include high bioavailability and low clearance rates.
