Description

1-(Benzylamino)propan-2-ol is an organic compound with the molecular formula CH(CH)(NH)COH. It is a white solid that is soluble in water, alcohols, and ethers. It is used as a bactericide and bacteriostatic agent. The compound reacts with amines to form epoxides, which are more reactive than the parent amines. 1-(Benzylamino)propan-2-ol has been shown to be effective against bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa when mixed with 2-propanol. 1-(Benzylamino)propan-2-ol has also been shown to have anticorrosive properties in elemental analysis and elemental spectroscopy studies.
