Product Information

Name:
2-(Bromomethyl)Tetrahydro-2 H-Pyran
Description:

2-(Bromomethyl)Tetrahydro-2 H-Pyran (2-Bromo-THP) is a pharmaceutical preparation that can be used to treat infections caused by viruses, including hepatitis C virus. 2-Bromo-THP has been shown to bind to the human CCR5 receptor and inhibit HIV infection in vitro. The drug also binds to the CB1 receptor, which may be responsible for its ability to reduce inflammation and suppress cancer cell growth. 2-Bromo-THP is a chiral molecule with four isomers: R,S,R',S'. The individual isomers have different binding affinities for the CB1 and CB2 receptors. The chromatographic and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of 2-bromo-THP are used to identify the relative ratios of these isomers.
