1-(Benzofuran-6-yl)-N-ethylpropan-2-amine is a chiral compound that has been used as a psychoactive drug. It is an enantiomer of 6β-benzofuranylpropanamine. The synthesis of this compound, along with other analogues, was based on the use of formic acid and benzofurans. The pharmacological effects of 1-(Benzofuran-6-yl)-N-ethylpropan-2-amine are similar to those of amphetamines and cathinones, but it is more potent than these substances. There are two stereogenic forms which are in opposite configurations: (R) and (S). This substance can be synthesized from the corresponding enantiomers, depending on the desired configuration.
