1-Butyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole is an organic molecule that has been shown to be a potent antibacterial agent. It has low detection in the environment and no known resistance mechanisms. It is stable in aqueous solution and can be used as a single molecule or as part of supramolecular complexes, which are clusters of molecules with a defined structure. 1-Butyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole binds to the bacteria by forming hydrogen bonds and chloride bridges with its target, preventing cell division and protein synthesis. The compound inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA gyrase, topoisomerase IV, and RNA polymerase. The compound is also efficient because it binds irreversibly to the enzyme targets, making it difficult for bacteria to develop resistance mechanisms.END>
